SMEs Business Insurance arrangements not compliant with legislation

According to a recent publication by the Federation of Small Businesses, non compliance with legislation regarding Employers Liability Insurance is at its highest within small businesses, according to a survey conducted that sought to be representative of all employers covered by the Employers Liability (Compulsory Insurance Act) 1969.

6.5% of companies with 2-4 employees confirmed that they had no Employers Liability, while every employer with 50 employers reported that  they did.  An additional 1.1% didn’t know whether they had cover or not and 4.3% of the overall businesses contact confirmed they had none.

Of businesses confirming they had no cover, the highest rate (11.8%) were in the category of young business and those who had employees in post for less than 2 years (10.2%).
